Preventive Maintenance

Preventive maintenance is important for reliable operation of your musical instruments.

The "maintenance-free" electronic organ is a myth propogated by some organ dealerships!

This Allen Gyrophonic Projector was used on Allen analog organs. The two 12" speakers in the top are mounted on a rotating baffle. As you can see, it is very mechanical, requiring periodic cleaning, lubrication, adjustments, and parts.

Organtek offers a Preventive Maintenance Plan for your church organ, carillon, chimes, or tower clock. Now you can rest assured that your instruments are in their best condition.

  1. All functions checked for proper operation
  2. All notes (or bells) on all stops checked for proper operation and adjustment
  3. Extinquished lamps replaced for music rack, pedals, indicators, etc.
  4. Keyswitches and stop contacts cleaned
  5. Interior console surfaces vacummed and cleaned
  6. Power Supply voltages checked and adjusted to factory specification
  7. Capture system memory backup batteries tested
  8. Speakers inspected for deterioration and damage
  9. Electrical plugs and sockets cleaned
  10. Clavier pedal springs adjusted for correct pressure to eliminate bouncing
  11. Lubrication (oil or graphite) of bearings, motors, tonewheel generators, chime plungers

The following additional points apply to older instruments with electron tubes in them.
  1. Clean glass surfaces of all electron tubes for cooler operation
  2. Remove all tubes, and clean the pins and sockets to lower contact resistance
  3. Test power supply for acceptable ripple on high-voltage capacitors

A detailed, written report will be sent to the church - with recommendations.
